The Utica Music and Arts Festival is excited to include The Cage, 401 Main Street, Utica, NY in our family of supporting venues for the 5th annual UMAF!
As the festival grows and changes, so do the dots on the map that it lands on and occupies. This year will see a few changes in venues, perhaps notably moving into the Historic Bagg Square area near the beautiful Union Station.
The Cage is your neighborhood bar with a little something extra, and I don’t just mean the gym upstairs. Matt “The Hammer” Hamill and Duff Holmes opened the doors of The Cage in 2007 and the spot wasted no time at all in becoming one of the city’s premier sports bars with its outstanding menu of american favorites and ‘bar food’ and a solid drink selection. Sports fans enthusiastically embraced a place to meet their favorite athletes during special events and to catch their favorite team play. Great food and drink specials and a friendly, festive atmosphere at The Cage make it the kind of place you can enjoy often. Recently, The Cage also began booking live music on Thursday evenings and hosting events beyond the sports world. Have you noticed Joe’s been popping up over there a lot lately? Enter the UMAF!
Baggs Square is a perfect stopping point between the UMAF’s Uptown activities and the venues on Varick Street and provides another opportunity to see more of Utica during the festival, even if you live here. Pier’s & Blake, 330 Main Street, is also on the venue roster, and that’s just across the street. I predict you may fall in love with this little nook of the UMAF vortex like I have. It can be a great deal of fun to bounce back and forth between these two establishments with your friends.
From now until fest kick off, The Cage will be hosting many events worth your time and attention, including some of the artists you have seen and will see at the UMAF. We hope you get a moment to stop out and join the fun!
